Francesco Antonio Pomey (Provence, 1618 - Lyon, 1673) was a famous frequent writers and scholar. Entered in the Order of Jesuits, he lived in Lyon where he was prefect of schools until his death. He wrote numerous Treaties of rhetoric and theology and the history of the ancient divinities of paganism. In 1659 he published this work that aroused a great interest in the originality of the topics. The present inherited work at which there is additionally added a copious collection of ancient epitaphs, with binding in parchment coevamena, title and calligraphic friezes on the back, although mentioned in its biographies is in fact irrinessable and very rare and studio.
