Rudolf Gaupmann

Gauermann He was an Austrian painter of the nineteenth century. Born into a family of artists as his father was a landscape painter originally from Lower Austria.In 1824 he began his studies at the Vienna Academy and traveled extensively between Venice, Dresden and Munich. His painting is characterized by an interest in a natural rendering of the landscape with important references to Dutch artists such as Ruisdael, Wouwermann, Potter and Ross. In 1836 he was elected artistic member of the Imperial and Royal Academy of Fine Arts.
