Aldo Turkeyro is a painter and illustrator originally from Celico, in the province of Cosenza. He moved to Rome where he attended the Art School and met Renato Guttuso with whom he actively participated in the artistic studio of Villa Massimo. His initial works, dating back to 1942-1943 they have strong references to the production of Carlo Carrà and Giorgio De Chirico. He attended the painting course at the academies of Florence, Milan and Rome. In 1973 he was awarded the Fiorino Prize of Florence. During his artistic career he has exhibited at the VII Quadrennial of Rome, at the Ca D'oro Gallery and at the La Nuova Pesa Gallery, both in Rome. He adheres to the neorealist current without giving up his originality as his canvases mainly depict animals such as fish and birds.
