Signed lower right. Framed, excellent condition. Provenance: collection of Dr. Luigi Profenna, great collector and art connoisseur. Authentication report and repertoire number N. 284209 Cambi – Milan. The work bears at the bottom an autograph inscription by Caruso of historical value "Commander Gabriele d'Annunzio and Eleonora Duse in the corridor of the Teatro Biondo (in Palermo) meet by chance in March 1920...". D'Annunzio and Duse had been lovers.
