Italianized Dutch painter, son of the painter Pieter Claesz, he was an esteemed painter and engraver of the so-called Dutch Golden Age. He stayed in Rome from 1647 to 1653, drawing from the Lazio landscape the themes and inspiration for his innumerable production. The evocative glimpses of the Roman countryside were the scenography reproduced on his canvases to depict slices of daily life with a rustic and bucolic flavour. STUDIO ASOR
